Joseph L. Bourdon, Denise Monty and thier children Colette, Christian, Roger, Céline, Fernand and Luc  were the third generation to own the dairy farm  in Pike River, an agricultural village near lake Champlain. The entire destruction of  the buildings by  fire  in September 1974,  decided the Bourdon family to sell the farm and  move elswhere. The actual dairy farm in Compton was purchased and the new adventure of the Bourdon family started in the lovely Eastern Townships on the 5th of July, 1975.

Between 1976 and 1977, major investments were made to improve the farm land in Compton.  The purchase of a neighboring farm as well as extra dairy quota were also necessary. All those investements  lead to the creation in August 1978, of Ferme Bourdon & Fils inc. . With its creation Christian and Roger became shareholders of the farm with Joseph Louis and Denise.

The determination  of the owners to reach self-suffiency of the feed for the dairy herd brought new investments to improve  and to purchase  more farm land . The purchase of more dairy quota in 1983, brought Fernand as another shareholder of the farm. Then fallowed Luc also as a shareholder in 1986.

The owner's  ingagements  towards agriculture pushed them to purchased another farmland, as well as more dairy quota in 1991, and 1992 .

Throughout the world the agriculture changes every year.  The need for Ferme Bourdon & Fils inc. to diversify its productions became neccessary. In fall 1995, the opertunity to purchase a sod production farm  next to  the main farm,   transformed a wish to reality. Since then the growth of the farm hasn't stopped. Large investements are made in new equipments to improve the techniques and effiency in every productions of the farm.

Strong of custom work experinces in grain combining and drying  between 1979 and 1986, added with the sod business since 1996, a new challenge was to be accomplished. The construction in 1998,  of a totaly independent and autonamous mobile soya roasting unit deversified once again the activities of the Ferme Bourdon & Fils inc.

The mobile Soya roasting service offered by Ferme Bourdon & Fils inc. made it possible for dairy , hog and poultry producers to harvest there own soya beans and  once it had been roasted, they could feed it safely to there animals. All of this done directly at there own farm without having to send the crop to be treated at a far-away roasting plant. Saving producers time and money by not having to pay for transportation.
